Association "Automation directions in museums and information technologies" (ADIT)

ADIT-2008: Cultural Heritage of Russian Regions in the Global Information Space. Perm, June 2–6, 2008.

In 2008, ADIT, traveling across the country, reached the Urals: the ADIT-2008 Conference was held in Perm from June 2 to 6, 2008, under the general motto "Cultural Heritage of Russian Regions in the Global Information Space." In choosing the conference location, the organizers took into account Perm's major museums, which are leaders not only in the region but also globally in preserving cultural heritage and ensuring broad access to it. The conference included the 10th Computer Museum Festival, public lectures, and master classes featuring leading Russian specialists in the field of cultural informatization for a broad Perm audience—students, university professors, museum workers, government officials, and others. Conference participants were treated to a tour of the Kungur Ice Cave.

Conference Goals and Scope

The ADIT-2008 conference in Perm, under the general slogan "Cultural Heritage of Russian Regions in the Global Information Space", aims, in addition to its primary objectives, to demonstrate that Perm's major museums are among the leaders not only in the region but also globally in preserving cultural heritage and ensuring broad access to it. Engaging the public, the media, and significant partners from business, government, and public initiatives in this process today is indispensable without the use of new information technologies. The accumulated experience of these museums, as well as that of other museums in Russia, can serve as a basis for disseminating information technology implementation practices both nationally and, in particular, among the municipal museums of the Perm Krai participating in the ADIT-2008 conference.
