The Republic of Karelia and Petrozavodsk were chosen as the venue for the ADIT'2012 conference, with the Kizhi Museum-Reserve serving as the focal point. The conference theme was "MUSEUM AS AN INFORMATION SYSTEM." The conference included an ADIT School for specialists from the Republic of Karelia, plenary and sectional sessions, and the Museum Computer Festival "Stories of the Old City." The cultural program included a tour of the "Marcial Waters" resort and the Kivach waterfall, as well as a day trip to Kizhi Island.
Aims and scope
- To share experiences in the field of computerization of museums and to discuss issues related to the preservation and interpretation of cultural heritage using digital technologies;
- To promote the mobility of cultural professionals and to exchange experiences between Russian and foreign specialists in the field of new information technologies in culture, art, and education;
- To develop modern interactive museum activities to attract young audiences to historical and cultural heritage.
The conference was supported by the international organization Nordic Culture Point and the Nordic Council of Ministers.
